Photoaging is the number one contributor to aging skin. To maintain youthful skin, it is best to minimize sun exposure and protect your skin daily.

Approximately 90% of wrinkles are caused by excessive sun exposure. Even small amounts of UV exposure have a cumulative effect on the appearance of our skin.

To better protect your body’s largest organ from wrinkles and freckling while also protecting its resiliency, healing ability, firmness and elasticity, use a daily SPF!
UVA and UVB protection is key in preventing a loss of elasticity and hyperpigmentation. UVA rays are not blocked by glass windows, a good reason to opt for daily protection. Even our overhead indoor lights give off UV rays which can feed and contribute to already damaged melanocytes (i.e. sun spots). HEV (visible light or blue light) radiates from the sun and our devices. UVA and HEV light are both associated with premature aging and hyperpigmentation.
While previous recommendations had us reaching for lower daily SPFs of 15, current recommendations suggest higher is better with SPF 30 and 40 being more commonly recommended even when indoors.
Oxybenzone is the most discussed chemical to avoid in your sunscreen selection. It is potentially carcinogenic, a potential hormone disruptor and a reef pollutant.
You may also want to ensure that your sunscreen does not contain nanoparticles, specifically nano-sized zinc oxide which is linked to DNA damage.
