We have all experienced dry, chapped lips and we all strive for soft, supple lips. In order to keep the skin supple, it is essential to add moisture via a topical treatment- lip balm! I love lip balm! There are a multitude on the market and a lot of mediocre ones. Here are my current favorites:
- Biossance Rose Vegan Lip Balm
This is the silkiest lip balm I have ever used. It features Wakame Algae to restore plumpness and I will attest to that being a valid claim. It contains Rose Extract which is moisturizing and calming, but also provides a luxurious taste.
Other notable ingredients are ceramides (naturally occuring lipids in our skin), Squalane (an excellent emollient and nourishing) and castor seed oil.
2. Color Up Therapeutics Full Spectrum Vanilla Lip Treatment
This one I use with my clients when concluding facials. The taste is awesome- Vanilla with a slight Cannabis hint. The product is very clean and also effective. It features full spectrum CBD which has analgesic properties to soothe pain or irritation, as well as antioxidant and antibacterial properties. It also contains Raspberry Seed Oil (UV blocking and collagen boosting), Carrot Seed Oil (healing and nourishing) and Cadelillia Wax (softening and conditioning).
3. Tarte Sea Quench Lip Rescue
The best tinted lip balm. Tarte has a trademarked Rainforest of the Sea complex with a proprietary blend of algae and marine flower extracts to smooth, soften and target fine lines.
There is also vitamin E, coconut oil and more botanicals- Portulaca Pilosa Extract (for skin conditioning and fine line reduction) and Spilanthes Acmella Flower Extract (to increase elasticity and firmness).
4. Magic Organic Apothecary The Green Fairy Hand & Lip Balm
I just started using this one recently. It is being featured mainly for the amazing taste!
It contains Absinthe Extract which is extremely antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant. This along with the Aniseed (antioxidant), various citrus extracts and stevia create a unique taste experience (intended to be similar to Absinthe). It is a clean product featuring many organic ingredients. Moisturizers included are shea butter, cocoa butter, olive oil, cadelilla wax, castor seed oil and sunflower seed oil.
I hope you enjoyed this list! Remember it is important to protect you lips from the sun just like the rest of your skin. Moisturize and protect! Maybe I’ll do one on sun protection for the lips soon.
